Description

The Consumables Shopping Experience (CSE) team is seeking a seasoned and skilled Sr. UX Designer to deliver a best in class shopping experience on Amazon.com. The role offers the opportunity to create innovative retail and platform shopping experiences across multiple exciting and diverse programs worldwide. The three main programs are: 1) The Consumables Shopping Experience team, relentlessly focused on enabling customers to easily find, purchase, and reorder the essential products they need and use every day. 2) Climate Pledge Friendly team, committed to educating and empowering customers to make more sustainable shopping choices, delivering credibility and trust. 3) The Baby Registry team, dedicated to helping expecting parents prepare stress-free to outfit their nest, themselves and for their little-one-on-the-way.

A successful candidate will be highly motivated, curious, creative, highly analytical and able to work autonomously to drive impact as part of a large growing cross-functional team. We are looking for a UX Designer who is a systems-thinker and highly-skilled at establishing and/or utilizing design systems as part of their design workflow. The ideal candidate is customer-obsessed and has experience leveraging mechanisms to collect customer insights and feedback to help validate design thinking. UX Designers who have experience participating in foundational customer research (interviews, observational studies, contextual inquiry, etc.) and who are also adept at leading internal and external design workshops and design discovery activities are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate must be capable of synthesizing a variety of inputs into experiences and designs that customers love.

Key job responsibilities

• Create design briefs, strategies, proposals, and executive summaries as needed to keep the product team and CSE leadership team informed of design opportunities and design progress

• Lead cross-functional design reviews for input and sign-off on design artifacts

• Deliver design assets, (mocks, product screen flows, user guidelines/explainers, etc.), clarification and consultation as needed to engineers when UX features are being developed

• Establish high quality standards throughout the discovery, design execution, development, and quality assurance processes

A day in the life

You will collaborate with Consumables members and central teams world wide to craft beautiful and usable customer experiences at scale. Leveraging market analysis, customer feedback, site metrics, and usability findings, you will create designs that address your customers' problems at their level of need. From conception to completion, you will drive the end-to-end UX design process, uncover strategies and opportunities, and present them to stakeholders for approval.

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of UX designer or interaction designer experience

  • Experience defining and maintaining design patterns and UX standards

  • Have an online portfolio or samples of work on resume, demonstrating experience creating great end-to-end, user-centered design solutions and patterns, across desktop and mobile devices

  • Experience designing customer facing retail products

  • Experience creating UX mockups, wireframes and prototypes for web and mobile applications and/or workflows

  • Proficient in tools such as Figma or Sketch for designing, prototyping concepts and for defining and documenting the user interface architecture (UI patterns, components and guidelines)

  • Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, or equivalent design-related field; or commensurate experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in delivering design solutions for projects of large scope and complexity

  • Experience acquiring user data (e.g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) and creating personas and journey maps

  • Experience in applying and advocating for best practices for accessible UX

  • 4+ years of experience working in direct collaboration with product managers, developers, and/or stakeholders

  • Experience participating in the complete product development lifecycle of successfully launched applications

  • Ability to prototype in environments like HTML, JavaScript, and CSS a plus but not required

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and make impact in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and the ability to articulate the rationale behind your design decisions

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $113,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
