TITLE: Senior Manager (Application Specialist)

DUTIES: The Bank of Nova Scotia seeks Senior Manager (Application Specialist) in New York, NY to act as a developer for Locates (short-selling pre-trade approval request) processing team. Work on time-based projects either individually or in a team setting. Support the Locates platform and work closely with vendors in designing solutions for Locates platform. Provide the beneficiary with extensive opportunities to interact directly with product development group, and as well as businesses in Toronto, New York, and London. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of software development. Perform Java/J2EE-based system development tasks for Locates Management platform. Work closely with different stake holders in designing and developing solutions for locates platform. Work closely with support teams in providing level 2 support. Perform unit testing to ensure quality prior to handing off for user acceptance testing. Perform implementation of approved changes into production by adhering to the change release management procedures and provide post-release support. Analyze and understand the deliverables as per business needs and work on the allocated tasks based on priority. Work closely with the business administration team and quality assurance team as part of system testing.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Applied Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field and ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or related occupation: using service-oriented architecture (SOA) to develop web services interfaces for systems to achieve straight through processing; designing, architecting, and developing software components using design patterns, Java computer programming language, and Oracle database technologies; using software development methodology including Agile and SDLC to manage software development and production releases. The offered salary is between $169,229 and $169,229 per year, and 40 hours per week. Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policies. When not telecommuting, must report to work site. In the alternative, employer will accept a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in one of the above-listed fields and eight (8) years of experience in the above-listed areas.
