Job Description

General Description

The Lehman Adult Learning Center seeks dynamic ESOL teachers for part-time employment starting September 2024.

The teacher will provide ESOL instruction to adults. Must be creative, proactive, organized, and committed to learner-centered, participatory education.

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Create and implement student-centered lessons with a thematic focus;

  • Maintain accurate attendance records;

  • Assess students’ work and provide feedback on an ongoing basis;

  • Attend staff meetings;

  • Participate in program-wide events and activities;

  • Attend Professional Development workshops as required;

  • Administer BEST Plus tests and participate in registration and orientation;

  • Work collaboratively with all ESOL teachers to share curriculum ideas, lesson plans, and classroom management strategies.

    Other Duties

  • Other duties as needed.

    Qualifications

    Qualified candidates must:

  • have prior experience teaching in Adult ESOL classrooms in person and on Zoom,

  • a bachelor's degree, and

  • be creative, proactive, organized, and committed to learner-centered, participatory education.

    A Master's Degree or Certification in ESOL instruction is preferred

    About the Research Foundation

The Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY) was established as a not-for-profit educational corporation chartered by the State of New York in 1963.
