Amazon Manager, Strategic Supply Chain, Amazon Vendor Services - Consumables in New York City, New York

Description

Are you passionate about leading a team and impactful programs for your organization and your Customers? This is your chance to manage a team of Supply Chain Managers to achieve world class inventory health for your Customers. You will do this by overseeing planning and inventory management for your Customers as well as driving analysis and optimization of inventory management systems and processes. You will drive initiatives that improve your Customers’ sales, operational performance, and experience by partnering closely with your Customers, some of the most influential Consumables Selling Partners in our Amazon Stores, and internal Amazon teams.

Key job responsibilities

• Plan and execute program inventory strategies to optimize availability, fast track delivery promises, speed and inventory health for Consumables AVS Selling Partners (SPs).

• Monitor, analyze and own Key Performance Indicators such as: Out of Stock rate, Fast Track Instock metrics, demand forecast accuracy, Total Inbound lead time, fill rate, including presenting insights, themes and trends to Senior Leadership team.

• Contribute to goal setting for your team to align with organizational goals in addition to business strategy development and identify the appropriate input metrics that drive growth and improve the end customer experience, in collaboration with cross-functional teams and other Amazon programs.

• Possess the ability to manage and deliver against complex goals where strategy is not defined. Able to make tradeoffs between short-term SP needs and longer-term strategic investment.

• Implement and track metrics to record the success and quality of SPs performance. Use these metrics to guide your work and uncover hidden areas of opportunity.

• Use customer feedback, market growth trends, and analyze key metrics to contribute to strategic development of features and programs that accelerate SP’s growth and improve their experience working with Amazon. Spot areas of unnecessary process or inefficiencies and work to simplify.

• Identify, optimize, and scale improvements that can benefit a large set of customers, e.g. driving efficiencies through tools and processes, simplifying SOPs, etc., working across multiple organizations. Develop mechanisms to create accountability.

• Lead a team of Supply Chain Managers (6-7 direct reports), as a thought leader in defining success criteria and understand business needs of SPs in an ever-changing business environment. Contribute to strategic plans and documents for the organization.

• Partner stakeholder teams including Category Management, Finance, Account Management, and Central Support teams to align programs and initiatives to drive growth.

• Manage recruiting and hiring efforts across direct team and broader organization. Coach, mentor, and develop your team.

A day in the life

• Facilitate weekly meetings with your team to align on weekly focus and monitor progress on Key Performance Indicators.

• Coach and empower your team with new supply-chain and Free Cash Flow initiatives.

• Create a strategy document outlining your team’s/Customers’ largest opportunities areas for leadership review.

• Actively participate in interview loops and debriefs for Instock and Customer Success Manager roles, includes identifying scalable and effective recruiting efforts to meet the team’s needs.

• Review connections data and create a plan to address team concerns and expand on new team ideas.

• Audit business performance metrics for the Customers managed by your team and highlight key opportunities and concerns in the metrics to your team.

• Identify synergies across the AVS and Category Instock teams to leverage resources, projects and ideas to effectively enhance SP experience, employee experience and Customer experience.

About the team

The Amazon Vender Services program is a paid service that offers enrolled Selling Partners services in one of five major categories: (1) A designated Customer Success Manager, (2) Strategic business advice, (3) Support, (4) Supply Chain excellence, and (5) Programs, Pilots, Betas, and Advance Coaching. In this role, you will be a member of the Consumables Category team, and will lead a team of Supply Chain Manager who support Selling Partners within the Consumables categories. Consumables categories consist of Health & Personal Care, Grocery, Mass Beauty, Premium Beauty, Pets and Baby. The role offers broad scope as the Selling Partners supported by this role may span numerous Brands, end Customer segments, and product categories.

This role is posted for Seattle, WA, candidates can can selected to be located in any of our approved office locations: Seattle, Austin, NYC, or Arlington (HQ2)

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Planning, Information Systems Management or relevant field of study such as Engineering, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management

• 5+ years of experience in Supply Chain management, Forecasting, Sourcing, Demand Planning and Retail Inventory Management

• 3+ years of experience leading teams and has the ability to deliver results through their team, including proven ability to effectively unblock their team

• Proven ability to problem solve through critical thinking and working with large data sets to root cause and identify scalable solutions that drive broader impact

• 2+ years of experience working with Excel and SQL proficiently

• Demonstrate deep knowledge of statistical inventory control, demand planning, and forecasting.

• Leader with proven ability to empower, coach and build highly effective teams.

Preferred Qualifications

•MBA with a quantitative focus, or advanced degrees in Operations Management, Mathematics/Engineering

• Has experience in leading teams with proven performance of driving change and improvement.

• Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.

• High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.

• Superior analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to dive in and quickly understand root cause and identify scalable solutions

• Excellent business judgment, strong written and oral communication skills, and a practical, common sense approach to getting things done

• Extreme attention to detail and willingness to roll up their sleeves to own large scale initiatives and/or unblock their team

• Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast-paced environment

• High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $112,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $208,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
