Google Hardware Module Reliability Engineer, Pixel in New Taipei City, Taiwan

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent practical experience

  • 2 years of experience working in the technology industry in module reliability or quality engineering roles

  • Experience in applying design for reliability techniques (e.g., failure tree analysis, DFMEA) and reliability modeling techniques

  • Experience generating CAD drawing for test jig (e.g. NX)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline

  • Experiences with FEA simulation

  • Statistical analysis experience including Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Control, Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility

  • Experience with consumer hardware products

In this role, you will play a critical role in assessing reliability of critical modules including various audio/haptics/sensors of varying maturity. You will work closely with design engineering, test engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to define standards, specify tests, and then supervise test execution. In addition, you will work closely with product management and work on project deliverables. You will perform basic electrical debug and failure analysis, and establish effective working relationships within and outside of Google.

The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

  • Support various FEA/CAD activities needed by Sensor, Audio, and Power reliability team, activities including but not limited to design test jig, identify mechanical weakness through actual or virtual testing through simulation.

  • Develop acceleration models and accelerated tests for New Technology Introduction (NTI) modules.

  • Establish and lead module level Design for Reliability activities (e.g., Fault Tree Analysis and Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis). Design and apply Design of Experiments.

  • Translate test results into meaningful product life metrics and highlight shortcomings on any metrics not met.

  • Collaborate and work synergistically with external and internal teams to de-risk, drive root cause, and implement necessary corrective actions.
