Location: New Rochelle, NY

Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm Monday- Friday

Salary: 16.00 - 17.00 p/hr. Dependent upon educational experience

OVERVIEW OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Assist Head Teacher in all phases of running the program  

Participate in meeting the goals and objectives of the child as noted on IEP  

Responsible and dependable pattern of attendance  

Present appropriate professional appearance  

Engage in frequent verbal interactions with children  

Utilize positive redirection to manage challenging behaviors  

Participate in reflective supervision  

Assist children in toileting, including changing diapers  

Participate in staff meetings and case presentations  

Assist in other classrooms if temporary staffing adjustment is needed  

Continue in professional development including 30 hrs per License cycle of OCFS training  

QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES :

Support for and understanding of children with a wide variety of special needs in a preschool setting  

Sensitivity and Empathy for children with special needs and their families  

Self-motivated  

Flexible and Collaborative  

Good communication skills  

Good organizational skills  

Responsible  

Cooperative  

Basic Computer skills  

Basic understanding of child development   

Willing to continue education to gain next level of position

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : High School Diploma and 6 college credits, NYSED Assistant Teacher Certification or Child Development Associate’s degree (or working towards)

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS :

This job requires working with young children in a school setting. This position requires working with young children who may need help with self-help skills including toileting/diapering, lifting up to 50 pounds, running, etc
