Ensuring Chart’s Success…

Chart is looking for a Sr Cost Accountant for the New Prague, MN location. The Sr Cost Accountant is responsible for cost accounting activities and works with management and operations team to ensure accurate and timely reporting of inventory and other manufacturing costs. The position also provides guidance to AP staff and procurement with regards to procedures, coding, and resolutions. The Sr Cost Accountant assists the Controller and Assistant Controller on achieving department goals and objectives.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  • Maintaining standard costs and inventory valuation both on a daily and monthly basis through PPV analysis

  • Participating in the month end close process including journal entry, reconciliation and reporting processes

  • Responsible for bill of material review, analysis, and modification suggestions

  • Analyzing inventory quarterly and preparing reserve adjustments

  • Monitoring cycle counts and inventory disposition

  • Reconciling and reviewing of intercompany balances

  • Presenting various accounting reports to the top management and making suitable observations and recommendation

  • Managing operational data and maintaining data accuracy and integrity

  • Assisting the accounting team in ensuring timeliness and accuracy of the financial statements

  • Reviewing financial data periodically to ensure fairness and completeness of the data

  • Handles special projects as requested by management

  • Helps with preparation of the yearly audit

  • Helps maintain the internal control environment

  • Assists with safeguarding the assets of investors

  • Stays current on changes in regulations and other industry news

Your Education Should Be…

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or Similar

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

  • This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

  • Office environment – walking, standing, and other office related activities

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

  • 3years of accounting experience

  • 3 years of inventory/cost accounting experience in manufacturing environment

  • 2 years of experience with “Big 4” Accounting Firm preferred

  • CPA preferred
