Ensuring Chart’s Success…

Chart’s production welders play a key role in the manufacturing process of Chart’s products. Candidates must be able to perform complex and critical welding operations and the position requires a full range of experience and training. Various types of metals are used during the production process and the following types of welding are performed: GMAW, GTAW, Sub-arc welding, Plasma-arc cutting and Air-arc gouging.

Available Shifts:

Days: Monday - Friday: 5:45am-2:15pm

Nights: Monday - Thursday: 2:45pm-12:45am (Night shift is eligible for a $2.00 per hour shift differential)

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  • Perform Tig pipewelding and other related manufacturing activities with minimal instruction and supervision

  • Layout, assemble and weld according to drawings, work instructions, and weld procedures.

  • Ability to judge the type and gauge of steel to be welded, and make proper adjustments as required by welding procedures.

  • Position welded metal parts on fixtures; attached jigs & clamps as needed to hold metal parts in proper position for welding.

  • Perform complete welding and finishing operations for unit repair.

  • Train and instruct other welders.

  • Use various handling devices in conjunction with welding tasks.

  • Accurately maintain required documentation.

  • Utilize visual examination.

  • Observe and practice safety procedures and policies, participate in safety program and department meetings.

  • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

  • Previous experience performing Tig Pipe Welding or Pipe Fitting experience isrequired

  • Ability to comprehend complex blueprints and weld symbols.

  • Experience with air-arc gouging and operation of plasma cutting machines.

  • Ability to accurately measure using devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.

  • Successful ability to pass certification tests.

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

  • Exposure to metal cutting, welding odors, welding flash and incidental acceptable limits of x-ray radiation.

  • Possible exposure to chemical odors and temperature extremes.

  • Frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and occasional crawling.

  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs. and occasionally heavier (50-60 lbs.) with assistance

  • Frequent pushing, pulling, and handling of materials as well as repetitive hand movements during welding.

Your Education Should Be…

  • Technical welding diploma or equivalent work experience.

  • Print reading course including welding symbols.
