Duties: The Department of Music at the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz welcomes applications for a Director of Choral Activities. This is a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor. The Director of Choral Activities has oversight of Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, and the College-Community Chorale, as well as teaching courses in the newly proposed music education program. Additional duties are dependent upon the qualifications and interests of the applicant, the needs of the music program, and may involve administrative responsibilities related to large ensembles; choral music education; and student recruitment. The successful candidate is expected to: maintain a profile of appropriate research and creative activity; serve on departmental and university committees; do academic advising; establish and maintain active relationships with area choral directors; and work closely with applied music faculty to recruit students.

We seek candidates with the demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to a faculty team dedicated to creating a positive, dynamic, and inclusive learning environment for an increasingly diverse student population.

Qualifications: Required:• Must hold DMA or equivalent doctoral-level degree in choral conducting by fall of 2024• Must have at least three years of teaching in higher education in either choral conducting or music education/choral concentration by fall of 2024

Preferred:• Completion of at least five years of performance experience in both acappella and choral-orchestral repertoire
