Boeing Global Services is searching for F-18 Avionics Technicians willing to on 1st or 2nd shift at Naval Air Station (NAS) Joint Reserve Base (JRB) New Orleans in Belle Chasse, Louisiana.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assembles, disassembles and/or modifies systems by changing, removing, replacing or upgrading aerospace vehicle components to correct failures or implement changes.

  • Coordinates assembly, disassembly or overhaul. Configures aerospace vehicles and bench test equipment.

  • Solves sophisticated problems pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults and repair faulty components.

  • Remove, install, repair and troubleshoot digital computers, fiber optics, infrared detection, navigation systems, communications equipment, electrical power distribution, pressure indicating systems, electric transformers and circuits, testing using latest equipment and procedures.

  • Install changes, alterations and modifications to aircraft electronic systems and software.

  • Read electrical system diagrams/schematics.

  • Perform daily, pre and post flight and periodic inspections on aircraft.

  • Performs validation/verification testing of systems and components.

  • Documents procedures and established processes to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance (e.g., repairs, test results, applicable modifications and inspection results).

  • Inspects components and verifies repairs for flight worthiness requirements.

  • Oversees training.

  • Works under general direction.

  • There is a great deal of standing, climbing, bending and stooping.

  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.

Avionics Technician:

  • Able to perform connector terminations including shielded wires, coaxial cables, and fiber optic wiring.

  • Ability and understanding of routing instructions and handling of harnesses.

  • Perform efforts associated with sealing, wrapping, bonding, tying, and closure of wire harnesses and cables in accordance with standard processes.

  • Demonstrates the capability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specification, and retrofit requirements to perform electrical modification/repair.

  • Experienced in the use of tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair of electrical wiring.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at NAS JRB New Orleans in Belle Chasse, Louisiana.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in military fighter aircraft maintenance

  • Willing to work variable shifts; including days, evenings, nights and weekends

  • Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory.

  • Work is performed primarily outdoors under all types of weather conditions with exposure to loud noise and exhaust fumes.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical publications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Fighter Electrical modification experience

Typical Education/ Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. High School diploma/GED) and typically 4 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. vocational school/Associate+2 years of related work, Bachelor, etc.).

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Summary pay range: $59,500 - $80,500
