Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Solution Architecture and Engineering to join our team. This role will focus on enhancing our DevOps CICD pipelines, cloud standardization, and optimization efforts, driving integrations maturity, and providing solution architecture leadership. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in enterprise and solution architecture, cloud computing, and API-first development, with a proven track record in leading large engineering teams and implementing innovative solutions.

This position will support our IT team and is eligible to work a remote schedule.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership and Excellence:

  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Drive engineering excellence by implementing best practices in software development, quality assurance, and operations.

  • Establish clear goals, performance metrics, and career development plans for engineering team members.

  • Encourage a strong focus on user experience, reliability, and scalability in all engineering projects.

  • Champion the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to maintain a competitive edge and drive innovation.

  • Manage resource planning, budgeting, and forecasting to maximize business and customer impact.

  • Work collaboratively with various departments, including IT, Cloud Operations, Security, and Business teams, to ensure stability, rationalization, and modernization of technology solutions.

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to identify opportunities for technology rationalization and drive modernization projects.

DevOps CICD Pipelines and Test Automation:

  • Lead the development and implementation of robust DevOps CICD pipelines to streamline software delivery processes.

  • Ensure seamless integration and automation of testing processes to enhance software quality and delivery speed.

  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to identify and resolve bottlenecks in the CI/CD pipeline.

  • Implement monitoring and logging tools to ensure visibility and traceability across the CI/CD process.

Cloud Standardization and Optimization:

  • Partner with the cloud operations team to develop and enforce cloud standards and best practices.

  • Drive initiatives to optimize cloud infrastructure, reducing costs and improving efficiency.

  • Conduct regular cloud architecture reviews to ensure compliance with organizational standards.

  • Implement cloud cost management strategies to monitor and control cloud expenditures.

Solution Architecture Leadership and Business Engagement:

  • Provide leadership in solution architecture, ensuring all designs align with business goals and IT strategies.

  • Develop and maintain architecture best practices, guidelines, and governance processes.

  • Oversee the intake process for new solutions, ensuring they meet architectural standards and business requirements.

  • Promote and enforce architectural governance to ensure consistency, security, and scalability of solutions.

  • Enhance business engagement processes to accelerate project delivery and turnaround times.

Integrations Maturity with API-First Approach:

  • Advance the maturity of integration strategies with a focus on API-first development.

  • Ensure that all integrations are scalable, secure, and aligned with industry best practices.

  • Lead the development of API platforms to facilitate seamless integration between systems and services.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define integration requirements and standards.

  • Implement governance frameworks to manage and monitor API usage and performance.

Data Marketplace Development (Post-DAP Implementation):

  • Plan and oversee the development of a data marketplace on top of the Data Analytics Platform.

  • Ensure that the data marketplace is API-enabled, fostering data accessibility and innovation.

  • Collaborate with data engineers and scientists to design and implement data marketplace features.

  • Establish governance policies for data access, quality, and security within the data marketplace.

  • Monitor and optimize the performance of the data marketplace to meet user needs and expectations.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • 15+ years experience in enterprise and solution architecture, cloud computing, and API-first development, of which 7+ years have been spent managing and leading initiatives in these areas.

  • Proven track record in leading large engineering teams and managing cross-functional projects.

  • Strong expertise in cloud services, DevOps practices, and microservices architecture.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Solutions Architect, Certified DevOps Engineer are highly desirable.
