Thames Valley Council for Community Action Veterans Coffeehouse Coordinator in New London, Connecticut

The Veterans Coffeehouse Coordinator for the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (AmeriCorps Seniors Program), will be primarily responsible for onsite organizing and hosting of veteran coffeehouses in New London County. Working in coordination with coffeehouse volunteers the Veterans Coffeehouse Coordinator will attend weekly and monthly meetings at all New London County coffeehouse locations helping with setup/cleanup and running the meetings. The Coordinator will complete required program paperwork, reports, and documentation.

The Veterans Coffeehouse Coordinator will become familiar with veteran’s interests and needs and assist the Director in developing partnerships with veterans groups. The Coordinator will assist the Director with program promotion and development of additional veteran coffeehouses in new regions. The Veterans Coordinator must have an understanding of and compassion for the needs of veterans, older volunteers and individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds. The Coordinator will learn, implement, and follow all program policies and procedures and act as a liaison between volunteers, station staff, participants, and administration.

This is a part-time position, to 15 hours per week.

Required Skills

· 1 year or more of related experience in veteran affairs, human services or nonprofit client services. A college degree is not required but appreciated.

· Excellent communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office required.

· Comfortable speaking in front of an audience and able to efficiently lead and organize meetings.

· Accountable for time management and ownership of job responsibilities.

· Must have a valid Driver’s License, good driving record, access to reliable, insured transportation.
