We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Mechanical Engineer Supervisor within our Chemical Manufacturing Plant located in New Johnsonville, TN.

Essential Job Duties:

§  Maintains protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products.

§  Supports and participates in programs, methods, systems, and practices for maintaining a safe and environmentally sound work environment.

§  Supports the safety process systems through participation in planned inspections, job observations, near miss reporting, incident investigation, area audits, and other programs as required.

§  Monitors equipment performance and makes recommendations to improve reliability and reduce cost.

§  Provides cost estimating and engineering proposals on routine replacement of equipment to correct maintenance problems, or for the improvement of processing equipment.  Supervises installation of such equipment.

§  Provides technical support to production and maintenance organizations throughout the plant to evaluate and resolve maintenance problems.

§  Leads effort in root cause failure analysis (RCFA) to eliminate reliability issues.

§  Assists with development of mechanical integrity and reliability centered maintenance programs for the plant.

§  Supervises the execution of the pressure vessel, piping, and storage tank inspection program(s).

§  Researches and analyzes data such as instruments, controls, engines, machines, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems.

§  Performs design calculations and prepares equipment or material specification data and documentation.

§  Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.

§  Designs products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.

§  Develops project scope documents and prepares authorization for expenditures (AFEs) for plant projects and manages project implementation, training, and startup activities

§  Oversees projects for optimization of products and process.  Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.

§  Develops, manages, and participates in programs, methods, systems, and practices for maintaining a safe work environment.

§  Applies corrective techniques to optimize equipment reliability and maintenance cost.

§  Contacts other technical and engineering groups for assistance beyond expertise and capability.

§  Provides training to production, maintenance, and other departments, in the proper operations and care of equipment in areas of expertise.  Develops the necessary training as required.

§  Keeps current on new technology and equipment and evaluates same for use in plant.

§  Attends technical meetings and seminars to maintain and improve skills as related to functional discipline and areas of maintenance management.

§  Assumes accountability for meeting plant safety goals and various other requirements including training, work permits, critical items inspections, job observations, housekeeping, reporting hazards and issues, and working safely in job assignments.

§  Actively participates in, and periodically leads, safety meetings, along with various other HESS programs, while promoting safety through offering recommendations to other personnel on working safely.

§  Supports and fulfills the requirements of the plant’s Food Safety program and ISO Quality System.

§  Complete any additional responsibilities assigned by Plant Management.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  •          Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, or related engineering field, with 3 – 7 years’ experience in industrial plant maintenance. 
  •          Strong trouble shooting skills. 
  •          Experience with rotating equipment including pumps, centrifugal compressors, centrifuges, cooling towers, gear boxes, refrigeration equipment, vacuum pumps, and mechanical seals. 
  •          Demonstrated vibration analysis capability and understanding of lubrication. 
  •          Experience with piping, pressure vessel, relief valve, and tank inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
  •          Familiarity with plant Mechanical Integrity programs associated with OSHA 1910.119, API 510, 570, and 653.
  •         Must be able to lift 40 lbs., climb ladders and stairs.  Walking, bending, stooping is required.  Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator.  Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
