Description This reputable company is seeking a Controller through Robert Half who has a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, and making critical decisions and have experience taking charge of an accounting and clerical department. To succeed in this role, you will need to plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. The ideal candidate for this position can lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services. We are seeking creative team players with a talent for challenging the status quo, coming up with unique ideas, negotiating and influencing for this role. What you get to do every single day

  • Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

  • Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required

  • Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

  • Inspect deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Comfortable handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties

  • Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners Requirements - Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

  • Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued

  • Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

  • Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • CPA experience

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Prior work done in public accounting is desired

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • The ideal candidate will be highly-skilled with exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
