Indium Corporation Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Chemical Specialist in New Hartford, New York

JOB SUMMARY: The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Chemical Specialist is responsible for ensuring that corporate documentation complies with applicable customer and government requirements by maintaining updated and accurate safety data sheets (SDS) and safety/environmental information regarding Indium Corporation products and manufacturing processes.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (COMPETENCIES):

  • Create new and revise existing Indium Corporation safety data sheets

  • Maintain current and accurate SDS record system

  • Manage chemical SDS for incoming materials from suppliers, including logging, cataloging, filing documents, and ensuring current records are maintained

  • Liaison with Research & Development (R & D) to conduct research and document hazards and restrictions of chemicals being considered for use

  • Track chemical usage at each US facility

  • Complete customer and government EHS declarations, surveys, and reports

  • Assist EHS staff with other EHS programs

  • Attend off-site training as needed or assigned

  • Conduct related employee training as needed

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates degree in chemistry, environmental science, biology or related technical degree required; bachelors preferred

  • 3 years of demonstrated work experience with industrial chemicals preferred

  • Experience working in the field of EHS preferred

  • Experience with developing SDS preferred

  • Knowledge of OSHA/NYSDEC/EPA/International EHS regulations preferred

  • Computer skills, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Office Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday

WAGE DISCLOSURE:

The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the range for the position. The actual range will vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position’s qualifications, and internal equity.

The posted salary range reflects just one component of our total rewards package.

$18.00 per hour - $29.00 per hour

($37,000 - $60,000 annually)
