Mountain Ltd. has an opening for an OSP Design Engineer - Remote.

Specialties include OSP/ISP engineering, design, permitting, right-of-way, and CAD for traditional and wireless telecommunications companies.

Overview:

The OSP Design Engineer will perform all facets of FTTH/GPON design, including but not limited to preparing and interpreting engineering plans, drawings and reports; planning and designing feeder routes and distribution areas, creating pre-field layouts for field engineers to follow, reviewing data collected from the field to create final designs and CAD prints for construction, creating splicing documents, and OSP labor/material workbooks.

OSP design standards and economic feasibility studies will be part of this role. This position is responsible for specific job budget development and tracking. This position is also responsible for periodic job inspections and quality control.

The ideal candidate will be familiar with aerial, buried, and underground design engineering practices as they relate to FTTH industry standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to interpret CAD and GIS information from existing network data

  • Ability to determine fiber path designs, input design placement codes, develop splice plans, and create permit drawings

  • Must have experience interpreting field notes and creating cost effective centralized, distributed, cascaded split designs

  • Have an understanding of best practice FTTH design methodologies to help determine the most efficient and cost-effective placement of fibers facilities and hub locations and sizes

  • Creating detailed splicing documents and labor/material workbooks for project funding and construction

    Qualifications:

  • Must have expert level knowledge of OSP FTTH design principles, telephone industry standards, and computer-aided drafting systems

  • Must have knowledge of splicing practices and be able to create detailed splicing plans

  • Must have knowledge of aerial make ready in order to create detailed design prints

  • Previous experience in aerial, buried and underground outside plant engineering is a must

  • OSP design experience in a fiber environment

  • FTTH Experience required

  • Must have own tools such as laptop/desktop tower, monitors, high-speed internet, AutoCad, etc.

  • Must perform work with minimal supervision for a designated area, including potential for any special projects as determined by management within the company
