Johnson Controls Product Engineer II in New Freedom, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 20464793 Nature and Scope: This position is a part of global air-cooled chiller engineering team. The engineer will work under product engineering manager to assist design and development of new features or new options of current products, support production of existing products, lead and participate various engineering activities to resolve field technical issues, improve product reliability and support value analysis and value engineering.

Primary Responsibilities:

Maintains understanding of design theories, concepts, technical principles, and processes related to mechanical and electrical aspects of air-cooled chiller products.

Experienced in mechanical design and able to conceptualize and to effectively communicate new design ideas into the current product platform.

Work closely with the design and drafting group in generating layout concepts and system configurations.

Support the manufacturing teams by initiating and executing design changes in an efficient manner.

Produces engineering/design documentation and compiles technical documents for use within the company.

Prepare and communicate test plans to verify performance and reliability of chiller components and systems in local performance lab.

Review and analyze chiller test data and provide input for design and troubleshooting.

Applies regulatory codes such as UL, CE, PED and ASME in product design.

Possesses knowledge of manufacturing processes and applies the philosophy of designing to standard manufacturing processes.

Leads small engineering projects and communicate frequently with both internal and external customers.

Strives for continuous improvement and teamwork in a global product development environment.

Occasional domestic and international travel (less than 10%)

Qualifications:

BS in Mechanical Engineering (ABET accredited) or related science or equivalent.

Minimum 2 years experience in a related field and fundamental understanding of basic manufacturing business principles.

Experience in product design and experience providing direct technical support to the factory or product testing process.

Knowledge/experience in refrigeration system and components (compressors, heat exchangers) would be desirable.

Knowledge/experience in electrical engineering (electric motor, motor control, electrical wiring ) would be desirable.
