Job Description:

Summary

The Production Operator is responsible for producing high quality commercial roofing products at the New Columbia Plant through accuracy, timeliness and efficiency of all manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate thrives in environments where safety, quality, service and cost are the highest priorities. The Production Operator will perform various, rotating duties relating to all manufacturing operations. He or she will support the managers and all plant staff to meet New Columbia’s operational goals and perform duties as assigned. Employees will contribute to a highly motivated and positive environment.

Schedule

12 hour shifts that rotate from day to night shift every 4 weeks.

Essential Duties

  • Produce high quality products on a consistent basis

  • Generate timely, consistent reports

  • Communicate positively with other production technicians and leaders

  • Assure all activities are performed safely

  • Perform all quality testing and measurements for the assigned position and enter the required data into the quality database

  • Provide a finished web that consistently meets all specifications

  • Responsible for color / product changeovers as assigned

  • Accurate reporting of all required shift paper work

  • Must be very knowledgeable in the Product Specifications

  • Report any out of specification condition immediately to the lead person/supervisor and take immediate action which may include shutting the machine down

  • Promptly report all known raw material issues

  • Promptly reporting of all known failures, malfunctions, or wear issues on equipment in the assigned work area

  • Responsible for making machine adjustments as necessary for the assigned position

  • Monitor assigned area for malfunctions, web breaks, etc.; troubleshoot on-line and document persisting issues

  • Able to assist all production line processes as requested by Supervisor

  • Able to assist maintenance as requested by Supervisor

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to climb a ladder and/or stairs

  • Frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing

  • Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery

  • Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone

  • Occasionally operate business machines

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear

  • Ability to read and concentrate via computer data entry typing and proofreading

Under This Roof, We Require

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required

  • 1+ year of manufacturing experience required, preferably in a fast paced, continuous process environment

  • Experience supporting production and business goals

  • Knowledge of manufacturing concepts, safety practices and procedures preferred

  • Positive attitude, ability to adapt and contribute to a team is critical

  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve production challenges

  • Advanced proficiency in Google suite

  • Familiar with standard manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures

  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to read and interpret measurements

  • Ability to respond to requests in a professional and timely manner

  • Demonstrated intermediate communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong planning, prioritization, organizational and reporting skills

  • Independent problem solving skills
