Overview:Provide preventive, corrective, and emergency repair of electronic controls at BHP manufacturing facility to ensure efficient equipment operations and reduce equipment downtime. Provide support during equipment crisis situations. Provide controls diagnostic training to plant electricians and mechanics. Provide equipment controls design review to ensure application in food processing environment.

Job Description:Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and troubleshoot analog I/O (A-D, 4-20 ma, 0-5v., etc.)

  • Perform component replacement and coordinate repairs with mechanical maintenance technicians as necessary

  • Review and suggest performance and improvement ideas with Facilities Manager

  • Maintain required program backups for critical equipment

  • Conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability of critical equipment

  • Diagnose and repair controls and control systems (electro-pneumatic and electro-hydraulic systems)

  • Provide controls diagnostic training to plant electricians and mechanics

  • Continually develop equipment and process expertise

  • Maintain and train safe work practices

  • Work with Operations associates to ensure proper equipment operation

  • Work with Sanitation associates to ensure proper equipment care

  • Perform work as assigned by Facilities Manager

Education and Experience

  • Full understanding of HMI interface and programming

  • Full understanding of mechanically controlled devices (modulating air operated control valves, servo operated valves and devices, VFD controlled motors, related PID functions, etc.)

  • Strong understanding and diagnoses of mechanical machine operation to insure correct control diagnosis can be performed

  • Ability to perform mechanical component replacement and coordinate repairs with mechanical maintenance technicians as necessary

  • Three (3) to Five (5) years’ experience in industrial equipment controls

  • Mechatronics training, courses, and experience preferred

  • Meat Processing and Equipment knowledge preferred

  • Strong, committed, and unquestioned record of safe work practices

Additional Responsibilities

  • Conduct equipment audits to ensure excellent maintenance

  • Support Facilities Department goals

  • Support QA, R&D, and Process Systems departments, as needed

  • Work with OEM vendors to continually improve equipment and process operations
