Aerotek Heavy Industrial Maintenance Mechanic in New Castle, Delaware

Job Summary: The Heavy Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of heavy industrial machinery and equipment. This role ensures that all equipment operates efficiently and safely, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on heavy industrial equipment, including hydraulic systems, conveyors, and large-scale machinery.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.

  • Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to minimize downtime and improve efficiency.

  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to identify potential issues.

  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and performance.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance or a related field preferred.

  • 3-5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a heavy industrial environment.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and stand for extended periods.

  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.

  • Ability to perform tasks that require manual dexterity.
