Job Description Summary Performs maintenance and repair services in more than one craft such as electrical, carpentry, welding, plumbing, sheet metal, painting, and mill-wrighting at a relatively simple level. This position is more common in smaller facilities where the incumbent has adequate experience to do most of the work specific to that setting, but is supported by specialists or outside contractors as needed. Has a sound understanding of maintenance history of the building, equipment, and other facilities to be maintained. Typically requires apprenticeship training in one craft, seasoned by practical experience, and some training in one or more additional craft areas appropriate to the particular environment. Works from verbal, written instructions, blueprints, and sketches. Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment and systems for emergency repairs. Applies skills, experience, and general knowledge to a wide range of tasks to adjust, repair, disassemble, replace, and reassemble equipment. Performs preventive maintenance routines and inspections. Utilizes hand tools and common shop machinery. Assists specialists in making more complex repairs.
