The Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking multiple post-doctoral associates to join the laboratory of Dr June Wang within the Department of Medicinal Chemistry on or about September 1, 2022. The successful candidates will participate in NIH-funded research projects in designing and developing small molecule antivirals targeting emerging and re-emerging viruses.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
A Ph.D. in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry or a similar science field is required.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Candidates must be able to:
  • Design retro-synthesis routes for screening hits and perform structure-activity relationship studies
  • Optimize the in vitro and in vivo pharmacokinetic properties of lead compounds
  • Interpret structure activity relationship and structure property relationship results and design corresponding optimization strategies
  • Participate in and present results and literature in group meetings and department seminars
  • Write manuscripts for publication and present results in conferences (Excellent verbal and writing skills are a plus)
  • Conduct literature search skills, and have the ability to design and improve synthetic routes to support SAR studies and deliver compounds in large scale in a timely manner
  • Perform molecular modeling including docking is a plus
