Posting Summary

The main function of this role is to provide consistent, high quality perioperative care for all patients under the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The Physician Assistant working under this division will be expected to function as an active member of the Plastic Surgery patient care team. Responsibilities include surgical first assisting, perioperative management, hospital rounds on inpatients, outpatient office visits, emergency room consultations, and service on-call responsibilities assigned by the chief of the division. In addition, some minor surgical procedures will also be required. Overall ownership of the service will be an expectation and the Physician Assistant will be expected to work to the full extent of their licensure with an emphasis on supervised autonomy.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

Qualified candidates should have a current NJ license, NCCPA certification, DEA, CDS, ACLS, and BLS. The ideal candidate would have completed a surgical residency program and/or have experience in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Candidates must be motivated to learn with a desire to practice at the full extent of their licensure.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Manual dexterity is required for using operating room equipment. The Physician Assistant must have excellent verbal and auditory skills for communicating effectively and clearly with patients, families, nursing staff, physicians, and other hospital departments.
