Job Overview:Clinical laboratory personnel, as members of the health care delivery team, are responsible for assuring reliable and accurate laboratory test results, which contribute to the diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and prevention of physiological and pathological conditions in humans. Quality clinical laboratory testing is evidenced by performing the correct test, on the right person, at the right time, producing accurate test results, with the best outcome, in the most cost-effective manner.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • BA/BS Degree in Medical Technology and /or related science.

  • Must be detail oriented and able to work in a high stress high throughput technical environment.

  • Must be able to work independently after training and be able to troubleshoot problems.

  • Requires some patient contact

Preferred:

  • ASCP or NCA certification preferred.

  • Stem Cell Laboratory experience preferred; If not recent Blood Bank experience preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full Time

  • Day Shift

  • 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM

  • Position requiring flexible work hours.

  • Requires weekend hours and weekend on-call.

  • Occasional evening/night hours

Essential Functions:

  • Provides quality cellular therapy services. Effectively communicates information, utilizes resources and manages staff and services. Coordinates operations with other parts of the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program and other programs utilizing cellular therapy services. Performs cellular therapy technical work.

  • Demonstrates a clear understanding and working knowledge of HPC (Stem Cell) processing, testing and cryopreservation processes as evidenced by the ability to perform procedures as outline in the SOP manual without technical errors. Is able to perform these HPC technical laboratory procedures independently or with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrates a clear understanding and working knowledge of HPC (Stem Cell) thawing, washing (if applicable) and infusion processes as evidenced by the ability to perform procedures as outlined in the SOP manual without technical errors. Is able to perform these HPC technical laboratory procedures independently or with minimal supervision.
