Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Business Manager IISPVR for the department of Rutgers Communications and Marketing. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Communications and Marketing, Rutgers-New Brunswick and Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, the Business Manager is responsible for the organization, direction, and administration of a variety of business services including accounting, cash accounting, finance, budget, sponsorship and grant accounting, and the administration of policies, HR, records retention, space and facilities planning, physical plant construction and renovations, grant administration, purchasing, and administrative support, within this large and complex communications and marketing unit supporting the Rutgers-New Brunswick and Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences Chancellor Offices. The Business Manager II SPVR will have a dotted line relationship with the Sr. Director of Business Operations in the New Brunswick Chancellor's Business Office.Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • Develops, communicates, and enforces policies and procedures to complete required financial processes and prepare records necessary to safeguard assets and provide reliable financial information to the Vice Chancellor and to a wide range of users internally and externally.
  • Will be a key member of the unit's leadership team and work collaboratively within this organization and assist in finding solutions and options for complex financial and business requirements endemic to the demanding, high visibility and fast-moving communications and marketing areas.
  • Works independently to meet objectives, with minimal supervision while performing professional work requiring detailed, specialized knowledge in the field of accounting/finance.
  • Possesses an in-depth understanding and ability to apply concepts, theories, principles, practices, regulations, terminology, and applied bases in the field of business administration.
  • Immerses themselves and develops a comprehensive knowledge of structures, operations, strategies, and objectives in both the Vice Chancellor's areas of responsibilities and operations and the general communication and marketing fields.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of general accounting principles and practices.
  • Also requires a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in a financial/accounting/business function, excellent communication skills, and computer literacy.
