CMHA is looking to hire a Controller for our Finance Department. This position will be located in New Britain.
Position Summary: The Controller is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and oversight of the Finance Department including payroll, accounts payable, grant reporting, third party billing, financial statement reporting, external audits, develops annual budget, including variance to actual analysis, provides finance education in laymen terms to program leadership, and ad hoc reporting to support CMHA goals and objectives, in a well-documented and controlled environment.
- Ensures Finance Department meets all deadlines and work goals by providing leadership on daily activities including payroll, deploying staff, resources and setting objectives.
- Analyzes departmental monthly reporting with responsible program leadership to identify areas in which expense/revenue adjustments can be made; allocates operating budget.
- Recruits, orients, trains, and supervises staff. Identifies ongoing staff training needs and conducts staff performance appraisals.
- Coordinates annual reconciliations for annual audit performing the appropriate research of accounting record and reporting according to department requirements.
- Through staff, directs and coordinates departments cash receipts and disbursements through cash management of operating account.
- Directly oversees the preparation of agency/financial statements monthly.
- Liaisons with CMHA management for fiscal year-end reporting in compliance with audit guidelines established by the agencys CPA auditor and for annual financial audit.
- Ensures that timely and accurate financial reports are submitted to the CFO and agency Finance Department in coordination with the monthly and annual closing schedule. Ensures reports are accurate for the Board of Directors
- Responsible for the oversight of compilation and submission of state funder grant reports according to information parameters and CMHA program management input.
- Oversees monthly billing cycle and proper recording of third-party revenue and accounts receivable.
- Oversees weekly accounts payable cycle and bi-weekly payroll
- Preparation of annual agency budget.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- Minimum of 8years experience
- Must include a minimum of 5 years management of a financial unit inclusive of staff, budget, and performance analytics
- Nonprofit and grant reporting experience
- Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Experience utilizing general ledger software and reporting packages.
- Experience/knowledge in utilizing financial management/billing software systems
Preferred qualifications:
- Health care experience
- Experience with anElectronic Medical Record (EMR) system
COMPENSATION RANGE- $98,000-$117,000 a year
