Primary Responsibilities

  • Operate conventional and digital prepress equipment to prepare files for printing either in-house or by outside vendors.

  • Develop print production schedules to help ensure delivery of projects on time and on budget.

  • Daily review of print schedule to ensure alignment of overall department priorities.

  • Work with print operators and bindery personnel to plan and set production requirements before project design is completed.

  • Responsible for archiving plates, approved press proofs, and the print file database.

  • Oversee the system updates, use and processes associated with the department's pre-press software.

  • Maintain the project management system to ensure accuracy of production and reproduction of jobs.

  • Serve as the Quality lead for the print and fulfillment teams, including leading continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Graphic Design, Marketing or Business or equivalent experience is required, along with at least 5 years' prior experience in the pre-press and print production fields.

  • Strong understanding of layout and imposition is preferred.

  • Working experience with Macintosh hardware and software such as InDesign, QuarkXPress, Photoshop and similar software is necessary.

  • Must have working knowledge of current standard color correction techniques.

  • Familiarity with imposition (Preps) and RIP software (Apogee X) a plus.

  • Working knowledge of plate making, offset printing and digital printing processes are necessary.
