JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Electronic Test Engineer (ETE) is responsible for designing, implementing, sustaining and improving production electronics test systems. The ETE may implement new test systems through procurement, installation, capability prove-out, software coding, qualification, training, documentation and ramp up. Support operations by analyzing and diagnosing test system and product issues and implementing corrective actions to improve yield and test time. This position reports in to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager or Senior Test Engineer.

  • Support shop floor operations by resolving Automated Test Equipment (ATE) system issues, In Circuit Test (ICT) systems, quality issues involving test systems, and implementing improvements to test systems. Activities may include circuit analysis, troubleshooting, analyzing test data, debugging test systems, programming test systems, upgrading software, maintaining software revision control, documentation, purchase requests etc.

  • Plan, specify, design and implement test systems in advance of new product introductions. Design, acquire and assemble equipment to build fixtures, assemble hardware and write software for both ATE and ICT systems.

  • Work with Engineering, Product Engineering, Technicians, and Quality Electronic Production Test Engineering to resolve any issues concerning electronic products or printed circuit board assemblies failing test. Support changes to existing product by upgrading applicable ATE and ICT systems.

  • Keep current on industry test standards. Assist in the development and maintenance of testing guidelines and test equipment. Manage budgetary information. Some travel or off-site work may be required. Maintain a clean and organized laboratory. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

5-7 years related experience

Associate Degree (Electrical Engineering)

Must have valid driving privileges

Occasional travel (0-5%)

Occasional overnight stays (0-5%)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Four year degree in Electrical Engineering with 2 to 5 years of experience or a two year degree in Electrical Engineering with 5 to 10 years of work experience. Experience developing, debugging and programming Agilent 3070 ICT systems. Experience debugging and programming ATE systems using LabView. Experience troubleshooting electronics, circuit analysis, soldering (thru-hole and SMT) and analyzing data. Good communication and interpersonal skills amongst plant floor, suppliers and support staff. Ability to plan and execute projects involving test systems. Ability to develop CAD schematics and mechanical designs for fabrication. Experience developing and executing a test system preventative maintenance program. Experience debugging and programming ATE systems using software such as Teststand, C, HP Basic, Visual Basic and Access software. Experience working with electro-mechanical systems, wiring, wireless networking, GSM protocols, Bluetooth near field communications, CAN and soldering (thru-hole and SMT). Knowledge of electronics test standards (SMTA TP-101 and IEEE 1149.1) and quality standards (IPC-A-610 and IPC-J-001).
