Ward and Smith, P.A. is a growing full-service law firm with multiple offices throughout North Carolina. We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our New Bern office.

Success in this position requires a commitment to quality at all times; exceptional time management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; excellent verbal and written communication; and proficient use of Excel; ability to exercise extreme discretion with sensitive and confidential information; and meticulous attention to detail. Staff Accountant must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with team members as needed. Experience in a professional services environment is a plus.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the financial data as it relates to the Balance Sheet by performing monthly account reconciliations; checking bank accounts daily and balancing activity; assisting with trust account audits; preparation and filing of 1099's; maintaining the fixed asset system along with the property tax filings; responsible for financial reporting of subsidiary companies of Ward and Smith, P.A. along with other accounting related task as needed.
