Craven County Government Event Prep Assistant (Part-time) (10935) in New Bern, North Carolina

Primary Purpose

The Primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of routine operational duties associated with the day-to-day events in the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center.

Essential Functions

  • Event Preparation Assistant will perform manual duties including lifting of moderate to heavy amounts of weight in the form of tables, chairs, staging, step units, moveable walls, audiovisual equipment and exhibition material as well as other objects as required to complete events set up and tear downs.
  • Maintainscleanlinessin all areas and works under the direction of the Event Service Representative.
  • Indoor and outdoor general custodial duties of cleanliness in all public areas during and after events.
  • Provides backup support to the Convention Center staff as needed during a scheduled work such as preparing meeting rooms outlined on the setup check list for setup and teardowns.
  • Ability to read and understands Event Preparation Sheets/Events Order sheets and floor plans for event setups to determine equipment needs. Performance will be directed and supervised under the Assistant Director.
  • Part-time position/irregular hours: scheduled when needed for events and routine assignments within the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center. Hours to include nights, weekends and holidays.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • High School graduation or equivalent, or any equivalent combination of training and experience to perform the required job duties.
  • Read, write, basic math, work well/communicate with customers and coworkers.
