Craven County Government CARTS Driver Part-Time (417-1) in New Bern, North Carolina

Primary Purpose

  • Performs work in the operation of a van or other vehicles to assure safe transportation of clients to and from various destinations.

Essential Functions An employee in this class drives a van or other vehicle over a scheduled route to transport clients to various locations through-out a designated service delivery area. Work is primarily transporting to and from the meal sites, Health Department, Social Services Department, medical facilities, grocery stores, drug stores, and other desired locations. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a variety of records such as time at each stop, purpose of trip, number of passengers per day, mileage, and vehicle maintenance. Minimum Education and Experience

  • A valid North Carolina Driver's License anda minimum of five years driving experience is required.
  • This position is subject to pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.
  • This position requires that the successful applicanthave no points on their drivinglicense.
  • Pre-employment as well as periodic background checks, including criminal and driving recordsis required.

Additional Information

  • Must exercise tact and courtesy in dealing with the public and other personnel.
  • Assists passengers in getting in and out of van.
  • May be required to serve during times of disaster.
  • Performs related duties as may be required.
