Location: The Salvation Army - New Bern, NC

Position Type: Regular Full-Time/Hourly

Pay Range: $9.70 - $10.91/hour

About this opportunity:

This position is responsible for helping to maintain an effective and efficient office environment supporting the business and service departments.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepares, maintains, and updates office records, documents, logs, lists, files, purchase orders, etc.; inputs and updates information in computer database; searches office files to locate specific information found in documents, correspondence, lists, forms, computer records, etc.
  • Answers telephone in a courteous and tactful manner; assists employees and people from outside The Salvation Army; provides accurate and complete information regarding the department's operations and/or services; attempts to resolve complaints in a calm, courteous, and tactful manner.
  • Performs varied and/or routine administrative duties for the administrative office; prepares statistical reports
  • Maintain schedules and calendars for the administrative office booking appointments and sending reminders.
  • Prepares and processes one or more of the following mail appeal financial documents: invoices, billings, purchase orders, requisitions, checks, check requests, tax reports, payments and/or deposits; reviews and verifies the same for accuracy and completeness.
  • Receives, records, and deposits cash receipts; prepares daily tabulations and reports of cash receipts; distributes receipts to proper funds; makes daily entries into cash receipts ledger.
  • May perform various bulk-mail activities; counts and sorts items to be mailed at bulk rate; obtains and applies correct labels to items to be mailed.

What we are looking for in you:

  • High School Diploma or GEDand
  • Three years progressively responsible experience working in a general office with accounting and bookkeeping responsibilities,

Or

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.

Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements; ability to read, write, and communicate the English language; ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.

Work is performed in an environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with dust, dirt, and the like. Work will be attending to a front desk and may require standing for extended periods of time; work will involve periods of walking while conducting facility tours.
