Alamo Group Inc. Fabrication Helper in New Berlin, Wisconsin

Join our friendly team of Fabricators at our New Berlin facility!

The Fabrication Helper is responsible for supporting and contributing to the daily operational needs of the shop. This includes supporting a variety of fabrication processes (loading and unloading the laser table, grinding, drilling, and material handling).

Essential Functions of the Job:

Responsibilities under the Fabrication / Laser function:

  • Moves material manually by hoist or forklift and secures material.

  • Load steel to cassettes for laser cut, unload and de-nest parts from laser to tables, sorting by work order and tracking quantities.

  • May use hand tools to grind, sand, clean, or polish objects or parts to correct minor defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing processes.

  • May be trained to assist fabricators with various processes (roll, drill, saw, etc.)

Responsibilities under the Material Handling function:

  • Reads production schedules, and work orders.

  • Gather and move materials from the fabrication department to work area, or part storage areas.

  • May assist the material handlers by sorting and placing materials on racks, or in bins; may kit jobs as needed.

General Responsibilities :

  • Maintain and organize shop and storage areas. Ensuring proper storage of flammable items.

  • Operate all company owned equipment and vehicles in a safe, lawful and respectful manner.

  • May be assigned additional responsibilities as necessary to support operations / production.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

  • Must be able to take direction and follow through with assignment.

  • Willingness to learn.

  • High level of manual dexterity with hand tools.

  • High level of detail and problem solving.

  • Mechanically inclined, production oriented.

  • Safety and quality conscious.

  • Able to work with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines.

  • Must be able to read basic work instructions, and understand how to read and use measuring equipment such as a tape measure, decimals and fractions.

  • Able to wear personal protective equipment.

  • Able to operate a forklift and other material handling equipment.

Education and Experience:

  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing work environment preferred.

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Working Conditions:

Work will be performed in a production environment that has minimal climate control. Frequent standing, twisting, bending, stooping and climbing in and around metal fabricated parts. Exposure to paint and blasting material. Frequent lifting, pushing or pulling of 50lbs independently. Requires manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate production equipment.
