Summary

The focus of this role is to develop and implement programs and training in the area of occupational health. The Occupational Health Specialist is responsible for the application of nursing principles to help Chobani employees achieve and maintain the highest level of health within the context of a safe and healthy work environment. This is achieved by promoting prevention of work and non-work-related illnesses and injuries.

Responsibilities

• Oversees occupational health services, including program planning, policy development and analysis, and cost-containment.
• Performs health assessment of employees, pre-employment and other as needed.
• Directs and administers first aid care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses, making appropriate referrals to outside medical providers.
• Supervises and coordinates annual audiological tests for employees
• Directs, coordinates, provides or makes appropriate referrals for counseling and crisis intervention.
• Directs and implements health education, promotion and ergonomic stretching program.
• Investigates, monitors and conducts analysis of illness and injury episodes and trends and develops methods to promote and protect worker health and safety in collaboration with safety department.
• Promotes injury prevention, post-incident communications and reporting.
• Works closely with outside medical providers in efficiently managing the treatment of work-related illnesses/injuries.
• Coordinates return to work of injured employees with health providers and management personnel.
• Consults with management and employees on issues related to ADA, FMLA, drug/alcohol abuse and testing, rehabilitation treatment, EAP and disability management.
• Oversee Bloodborne Pathogens program, Hazmat annual requirements, first aid supplies, and training.
• Directs other health-related programs such as drug-free workplace and hearing conservation.
• Maintains confidentiality and professionalism in dealing with employee health and personal issues.
• Directs and maintains an effective First Responder program to provide adequate medical care to employees in the event of a medical emergency.

Requirements

• Graduate of accredited professional nursing program is required.
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) is preferred at least a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is required.
• A minimum of five years of professional nursing experience in a primary care setting such as public/community health, ambulatory, emergency critical care units.
• Must be reachable via phone in cases where injury consultation is needed in the off hours.
• Certification in occupational health nursing (COHN) is desirable.
• CAOCH certification or ability to attain within two months of hire.
• Sound theoretical base and competent clinical skills to meet the demands of diverse roles and responsibilities.
• Recognition of legal, social, ethical and technological factors that affect health care.
• Knowledge in Workers’ Compensation preferred.
• Knowledge of Federal and State OSHA regulations affecting occupational health and safety and their application is preferred.
• Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have the ability to work with minimal direction and supervision to provide leadership to others without having direct reporting structure.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work as a team member.
• Ability to read, write and understand work instructions (English).
• Safely perform essential job responsibilities.

Compensation Range: $64,800.00 - $97,200.00, plus bonus.
