City of New Albany Police Officer in New Albany, Ohio

Police Officers take proper enforcement action as necessary to maintain the order, safety and general welfare of the city. Police Officers provide a highly visible, professional presence while conducting patrol activities, maintaining safety and assisting citizens in a wide range of emergency and non-emergency situations.

Qualifications

This position has a high degree of accountability. The incumbent must be eligible to work in the United States and eligible to hold an Ohio Peace Officer Training Certificate. The incumbent for this position shall be at least 21 years of age. A bachelor's degree and/or active duty military service with honorable discharge is preferred. The incumbent must possess a valid Ohio driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the city's vehicle insurance policy. The incumbent must be able to successfully pass a background check according to the city's established criteria and any restrictions put in place by state law. Background investigation includes, but is not limited to: credit, criminal history, employment and personal reference checks; home interview. After a conditional offer is extended, candidates will be subject to a lie detector examination, medical evaluation, drug screen, and psychological evaluation to determine fitness for duty. Personality assessments may also be used in the selection process. The City of New Albany is currently accepting applications for Police Officers with an ongoing eligibility list.
