This position is located on Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of Carpentry related systems and equipment.

  • Provides general oversight and day to day guidance for the specific trade they are assigned to lead.

  • Verify actual hours worked to reduce manpower expenditure, and report all faults, deficiencies, as well as time and materials expended.

  • Ensure personnel exhibit superior workmanship and focus upon a quality product.

  • Responsible to provide status updates to management via various means to include computer-based information management systems.

  • Will have direct oversight of carpenters and ensure personnel complete all tasks in accordance with the Public Works Safety Policy and Environmental, Safety & Health directives.

  • Addresses customer concerns in a prompt, professional and courteous manner.

  • Ensures personnel correctly capture data on maintenance work order requests and preventative maintenance inspection forms for upload into the Maximo database.

  • Performs other duties and assignments as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education if degree is required.

  • Must either have a trade school diploma from their country of record or hold 3 years’ experience as a practicing journeyman carpenter and some relevant work experience leading teams.

  • If need be, Maximo training will be provided but the candidate needs to be able to use a tablet and learn the computerized system

  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English.

  • Must be able to work under pressure, individually or in a team and be service oriented.

  • Working Environment

  • Shift work and/or flexible working hours and/or overtime and/or assigned rest day rotation may be required. Subject environmental conditions activities can occur both inside and outside.

  • Physical Activities

  • Physically capable of working in hot or warm weather all year long, with little change in seasons.
