Summary You will serve as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist and act as a Safety Liason of NAVSUP FLC SD GF. Responsibilities You will ensure compliance with accident prevention, planning, and control, risk management, and safety education policies and procedures. You will advise management, staff, supervisors, employees, and contract personnel on a variety of safety and occupational health matters. You will search and develop safety requirements in accordance with regulations and policy guidance. You will complete training for Competent Person Fall Protection and is responsible for managing the command Fall Protection program. You will manage all aspects of the Enterprise Safety Applications Management Administration (ESAMS) and Risk Management Information (RMI) utilization duties of the Safety Programs of Record. You will perform periodic scheduled and unscheduled inspections of fuel facilities, work sites, and operations to evaluate compliance with applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, policies, and procedures. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying a thorough knowledge of safety and occupational health principles, policies, regulations, methods, and techniques to independently assess, recommend, and implement safe working procedures to eliminate unsafe working conditions, hazards, and risks to personnel and property. Must also have experience performing a full range safety and occupational health management responsibilities sufficient to support the monitoring, assessing and maintaining command facilities and infrastructure. Specialized experience must include a majority the following: 1) Utilize laws, regulations, policies, and procedures related to safety and occupational health to interpret and explain the reasons for applying measures and procedures; 2) Advise supervisors and employees on safety techniques, proper storage, and handling of hazardous materials; 3) Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the Competent Person Fall Protection Program Management to implement, manage, and evaluate the continued effectiveness of the program to assess facilities for potential fall hazards and ensuring that employees are free from fall/trip hazards; 4) Communicate orally and in writing to prepare written reports of assessments, prepare and conduct training, and conduct briefings to inform senior-level management officials on the overall effectiveness of programs.
