Summary You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN in the RADIOLOGICAL MONITORING DIVISION (105.3) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will serve as a Physical Science Technician whose function is to oversee and accomplish a broad range of complex tasks. You will be responsible for validating proper performance of technical radiological control work. You will serve as a radiological control representative on work groups comprised of various levels of radiological control, production supervisors, and technical code representatives. You will conduct continuous surveillance work involving radiological control and radioactive materials. You will identify, correct, and document deficient conditions or work practices to prevent elevated radiological impact. You will be expected to meet all necessary requirements in order to provide on-scene radiological control responses for actual or potential radiological emergencies, causalities, training experience and proficiency drills on or off site. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications For GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience and proficient in the use of the full range of radiological control instrumentation and survey techniques in use within the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program and skill in preparing comprehensive technical reports. Experience in meeting all necessary requirements to provide on-scene radiological control responses for actual or potential radiological emergencies, casualties, training exercises, and proficiency drills on or off site. Experience and detailed knowledge of quantitative measurement and health physics techniques to conduct a comprehensive assessment of potential problems in Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program area and support facilities including radioactive spills, waste disposal, effluent monitoring, storage, and handling of radioactive materials and equipment. For GS-10: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
