Retail client is adding a staff accountant to their team! This role will involve maintaining the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying GAAP along with analytical work and thorough review of financial records.

Responsibilities:

• Execute the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions and ensure that all invoices and staff reimbursements are paid accurately and in accordance with policies and procedures

• Manage the processing of cash receipts, recording of revenue and receivables and work closely with the services team to ensure that revenues are accurately recorded

• Perform the processing of functional and benefits expense allocations, monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation and recording of adjusting and reclassification journal entries, if necessary

• Conduct monthly reconciliation of every bank account

• Assist in the development and maintenance of financial reports to clearly communicate actual results, forecasted performance, and variances to plan, forecast and budget

• Understand expense accounts and cost centers

• Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements and budget performance

Requirements

• 1-3+ years of general accounting experience

• Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience with Bank Reconciliations is necessary

• Familiarity with General Ledger and Journal Entries is required

• Must have exposure to Month End Close procedures

• Account Reconciliation skills are essential

• Experience with Bank Account Reconciliation is a must

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is preferred

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary

• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with advanced MS Excel, is required

• Familiarity with accounting software programs is preferred.
