Job Description

CACI is seeking a Network Engineer III to join our technical operations and maintenance team on a contract supporting the enterprise network and infrastructure at the Department of Homeland Security. The Network Engineer III will play a key role in network administration, respond to monitoring alerts and resolve incidents in a 24/7/365 environment. This position will support IT operations and engineering activities. They will quickly identify issues impacting the enterprise, troubleshoot, resolve incidents, document for root cause analysis, complete requests, and maintain network devices.

Location: National Harbor, MD (Hybrid)

About the Role:

Serve as a Technical Operations member responsible for troubleshooting and maintenance. Responsibilities include:

  • Manage, troubleshoot, and maintain network devices.

  • Work with and manage Cisco routers, switches, wireless access points, firewalls (ASA and Palo Alto), Bluecoat proxies, VPN, and Zscaler.

  • Proactively monitor and measure systems performance to detect trends and catch problems before users are impacted.

  • Respond to systems alerts, triage, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents.

  • Work closely with other support teams to ensure incident events are handled in a timely manner.

  • Handle incoming technical escalations from Service Desk, Network Operations Security Center, Tier II, and other support teams.

  • Join troubleshooting bridge calls for major incidents.

  • Perform patching, updates, upgrades, refreshes, and other maintenance activities.

  • Communicate directly with end-users as necessary, to resolve issues and complete requests.

  • Assist with postmortem related activities and support various efforts related to operational improvements.

  • Based on recommendations from management, implement new and improved processes, change processes, perform new tasks, create reports, and address ad-hoc requests.

  • Evaluate and recommend changes and/or technology upgrades to address performance, standardization, and industry best practices.

  • Follow all Customer network security processes and procedures, ensures compliance with all Government policies.

  • Represent customer requirements in technical exchanges with other government agencies.

  • Perform site surveys to new installations and technology refresh.

  • Develop and maintain network architecture diagrams.

  • Contribute to documentation in the Knowledge Base, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), work instructions, and job aids.

  • Conduct knowledge transfer sessions with operations and engineering teams on new solutions, systems, applications, and tools.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain DoD Top Secret/SCI Clearance

  • Ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Entry On Duty (EOD) - Active EOD preferred

  • B.S. + 9 years of applicable experience

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification

  • Expert experience (including troubleshooting) with Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, VPNS, and wireless access points

  • Advanced experience with Network analysis tools

  • Advanced experience with supporting IP services (IPv4, VPN, IPv6, Multicast, QOS, SDN, SNMP, VOIP, VTC, etc.)

  • Strong experience with OSPF, BGP, MPLS, RSVP/LDP L2/3VPNs, VRFs, IKE/IPSec, GRE tunnels, MTU, Import/Export policies

  • ITIL Foundation certification (not required to start but expected to attain in first six months)

  • Flexibility to work MON – FRI, 6am – 2pm or 10am – 6pm

  • Work on-call rotation to respond to incident escalations

  • Experience using Service Now service management software (or similar tool) to document incidents and service requests

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous DHS or DoD experience

  • The following certifications are highly desired:

  • Other Cisco certifications

  • Security+ ITIL Foundation

  • Knowledgeable of Problem Management best practice and processes
