Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies through the modified DoD Direct Hire Authority. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will plan, manage and assist in the administration and coordination of major research and development programs. You will conduct testing/research of physical science, textile technology, and human physiology. You will review and analyze a wide variety of projects. You will conduct broad research and development studies which are complex in nature. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-11: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one full year of specialized experience at the or equivalent to the next lowest grade (GS-09) or pay band in the Federal Service or equivalent private sector experience, demonstrated through experience which has equipped me with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position at the GS-11 level. Specialized experience complying with industry standards to conduct research development and testing which may include performing the following:1) Assists in conducting research, development, and engineering of new materials, special protective clothing and accessories assuring functionality and effective utilization of technological advances using knowledge of physical science and textile technology. 2) Performs specialized tasks and assists in studies to determine the properties of materials in relation to such variable elements as protective quality, maintenance, functional requirements, fire and thermal properties, chemical agent protection, and functional finish requirements.3) Conducts testing/research which involve approaches, methods, techniques, and concepts of physical science, textile technology, and human physiology 4) Assisting in the writing of comprehensive technical reports, interpretations, conclusions, and recommendations.5) Assist in conducting, developing, and updating test methodologies; participating in planning, preparation, execution and analysis of test protocols. 6) Uses standard test equipment and instrumentation to obtain data. 7) Effectively communicate technical information orally and in writing. Education Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: A - Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. OR B - Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Education substitution may be used for the GS-11 level as: A - 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree OR B - Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR C - Combination of education and experience Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
