Minimum Qualifications

  • Display a positive attitude and provide excellent customer Service.

  • Knowledge of accounting and accounts receivable principles, methodology, and practices.

  • Ability to work in a detailed-oriented, team environment.

  • Experience is preferred in the Ellucian Banner Student and Finance System.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work efficiently under the pressure of deadlines.

  • Knowledge of accounting for cash and cash items preferred.

Job Concepts

This position is on the front line of a demanding customer service environment and the duties include:

  • Maintain and reconcile cash drawer, control and safeguarding of cash and cash items.

  • Must have the ability to make decisions to ensure coding to the general and operating ledger is consistent with the University's budget allocation and University policy.

  • Complete necessary journal vouchers to ensuring replenishment of the vault regarding the paying out of cash and petty cash vouchers.

  • Reconciles daily business and prepare daily deposit for all University receipts and revenue.

  • Oversees the allocation of all cash balances in banks are maintain at adequate but not excessive levels and subject to appropriate safeguards.

  • Daily reconciles all data feed files from student accounts receivable.

  • Compiles monthly business reports for the bursar concerning but not limited to revenue forecasting, delinquent accounts, petty cash, and departmental advance.

  • Accurately determines account code distribution of all student and non-student receivables, including fund, organization, account, and program.

  • Analyze student accounts receivable records to provide students and parents accurate information concerning, tuition & fees, installment plans, payments on account, financial aid disbursements, passed due balances, collections.

  • Educate students about their financial obligation to the University as well as the appropriate financial resources available to them.

  • Maintain current knowledge of financial aid, admissions, housing, and registrar as it relates to the bursar office function.

  • Assist in managing several start-of-semester processes related to student and third-party billing.

  • Coordinate with on campus departments and third-party representatives regarding current billing and new requests.

  • Perform daily banking processes for ACH payments and credits.
