Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Physics

  • 1-2 years’ experience in lab management in a secondary or higher educational environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work with diverse groups of students and faculty constituents.

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to work on multiple projects.

  • 3-5 years’ experience in lab management in a secondary or higher educational environment

The successful applicant’s primary responsibility will be to organize regular rotation of lab needs for each of the scientific disciplines as needed, which includes preparing materials for classroom exercises and consulting with faculty as to specific preferences for components and organization. The successful applicant’s secondary responsibilities include managing and organizing lab storerooms and working closely with the school safety officer to ensure safe storage and disposal of chemicals.

Examples of Work

Candidate responsibilities include:

  • Organizes regular rotation of lab needs for each of the scientific disciplines as needed – preparing materials for classroom exercises and consulting with faculty as to specific preferences for components and organization. (80%)

  • Manages and organizes lab storerooms, consulting with the Chair and the DAA when additional materials and equipment need to be purchased. Additionally, managing MSDS sheets, database of chemicals in stock, and managing chemical disposal. Works closely with school safety to ensure safe storage and disposal of chemicals. (20%)
