Weyerhaeuser Journeyman Electrician in Natchitoches, Louisiana

Four positions for Journeyman Electricians are open at the Natchitoches Engineered Wood Products Mill. Three positions are available on Maintenance Crew A, and one position is available on Maintenance Crew B. Qualified candidates will have a thorough and comprehensive knowledge of electrical equipment, processes, and techniques to safely repair, modify, install, and maintain the facility and high-tech manufacturing equipment.

The wage for this role is $32.12/hour.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

  • Be familiar with the general plant reliability and maintenance plan and responsibilities.
  • Work with a team of electricians and millwrights to deliver preventative and routine maintenance.
  • Assist other skilled workers in repairs and projects which may include bringing necessary tools and parts to the area they are needed.
  • Design layout and installation of basic electrical controls.
  • Basic Industrial Electrical Construction based on NFPA 70 National Electric Code. This includes ability to layout, cut, bend and thread conduit and ability to size conductors and over current devices
  • Demonstrate ability to apply new craft knowledge in daily work as it is learned from training assignments.
  • Safely repairing and troubleshooting industrial electrical systems.
  • Preventative maintenance responsibilities.
  • Support of goals and objectives of the entire maintenance team.
  • Basic PLC troubleshooting.
  • Be able to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and ladder logic.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with and without direct supervision.
  • Knowledge and ability to use Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Show proficiency in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) standards.
  • Demonstrate basic computer skills including Maintenance Management Software, MS Office, Email and Web based programs.
  • Must be able to manage program files as documented in file management SOPs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.

  • Minimum of 3 years of electrical experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment required.
  • Proven experience working and troubleshooting with 3-phase and single-phase power equipment, including 480 volts.
  • Proven experience with encoders, temposonic, and other similar control devices.
  • Functional experience with all voltage, amperage, megger, and similar metering devices.
  • Stable employment history.
  • Vocational or technical certificate in a related area.
  • Good working knowledge of industrial electricity issues
  • Commitment to follow all unit electrical / maintenance practices
  • A current resume detailing education and work history is required for consideration.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Good planning, organizational skills, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to read and follow detailed instructions.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Must be willing to work a 12-hour shift which will include weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures and be ambulatory for the majority of an assigned 12-hour shift.
