Nassau County Police Department Paramedic (EMT) in Nassau County, New York

POLICE MEDIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Respond to emergencies via the Nassau County 911 system Provide pre-hospital care to patients both on scene and enroute to the hospital. Including IV therapy, defibrillation, medication administration, endotracheal intubation, and other medical techniques consistent with Nassau County protocol. Coordinate proper documentation of patient care. Transfer of patient care, and report to hospital emergency departments. Maintain and restock Ambulance. Nassau County Police Medics are required to re-certify every three years as per NYS guidelines. Recertification is provided as part of employment KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Prior pre-hospital care experience is preferred and recommended. High School Diploma Valid NYS Drivers License. Certification as a NS EMT-CC or higher. Certification as a Nassau County ALS provider as per Nassau County credentialing process. Three years satisfactory experience as an operator of emergency vehicles. Successful completion of the mandatory Emergency Vehicle Operators course given after appointment may be substituted for driving experience. Preferential consideration given to applicants that are Nassau County residents.
