We are looking for builders who thrive in ambiguity to join our Learning Process/Products Engineering (LPE) Technology team within Amazon’s Rapid and Rural Logistics (R2L). R2L delights millions of customers around the world by delivering our most complex product lines at speeds that redefine customer expectations.

As a Sr. Technical Program Manager for R2L LPE Tech Products team, you will be helping to define the future of this critical operational business line at Amazon. You will craft business strategy and technology product solutions to solve for highly complex problems, partnering cross-functionally across multiple tech and business teams to deliver customer value. You will force-multiply tech product managers through robust and executable integration planning, testing, and roll-out phasing while defining and tracking KPIs to ensure value-capture each step of the way. You index highly on innovation, finding frugal and effective solutions in the face of roadblocks, while mitigating risks before they've been realized. Your creative vision enables some of Amazon’s biggest brands to delight millions of customers. Your focus will be on improving our associate experience as we strive to be the world’s best employer, while simultaneously increasing operational efficiency and workplace safety.

Key job responsibilities

  • Innovating on behalf of our customers

  • Managing the product development life cycle from strategic planning to tactical execution

  • Defining robust test and pilot plans based on an intimate knowledge of the customer and technology

  • Developing and managing feature delivery roadmaps for product launches that consider cross-team dependencies

  • Sequencing engineering work ensuring all dependencies are tracked for successful delivery of federated service product solutions

  • Establishing program goals, measuring and tracking metrics for project success to achieve commercial viability

  • Identifying, evaluating, tracking, and mitigating issues & risks balancing customer and business needs versus technical constraints

  • Driving effective teamwork, communication, collaboration and commitment across multiple disparate groups with competing priorities.

  • Partnering closely with Engineering, Product Tech, Business, and Operations teams to deliver new features and product solutions across multiple lines of business

  • Leveraging your deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills and excellent leadership skills to come up with new ways to solve challenges at scale.

  • Authoring regular communication to senior leaders and stakeholders on status, risks and change control.

A day in the life

This role will be focused on creating innovative and scalable solutions supporting our Learning and Development teams who manage onboarding, training, and skill progression of leaders, associates and drivers across various business lines. Solutions can range from incremental features and tech integrations to creating entirely new products and system architecture designs.

About the team

The R2L LPE Team is a collaborative group of Business Analysts, Business Intelligence Engineers, Data Engineers, Product Managers, and Program Managers that create people-centric, business-enabling innovations for a workforce of over a hundred thousand valued associates and leaders.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent

  • 3+ years of analytical, quantitative, communication, and presentations experience

  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience leading highly technical programs involving infrastructure, complex systems, systems engineering

  • Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

  • 3+ years of software development experience

  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
