Job Summary:

The Senior Epic Inpatient Application Architect works with analysts and developers to design and implement complex workflow solutions to support patient care across the enterprise. Recent projects include electronic ordering and resulting of Cologuard, reduced time to roll out new lab tests, and reduced financial testing timeline for the lab move project. The Senior Application Architect will work to design and implement new and existing Inpatient, OR, and ED workflows for upcoming projects including Epic Beaker, Epic Community Connect, and New Tower. A dedicated architect who can analyze, design, and implement these workflows, while working cross functionally with other teams is key to this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Contributes to and maintains governance of application and integration architectures.

• Contributes to and ensures compliance to enterprise reference architecture.

• Contributes to future technology strategy, standards, roadmap from current to future landscape.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Epic Certified in one or more of the following: Epic Orders, ClinDoc, ASAP, Optime or Anesthesia.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES

• Applications System Design (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery of systems design tasks independently and without support from others for moderate to difficult applications, batch, on-line and event-driven. Has conducted all of the tasks and activities required to complete the systems design phase and participated in the process of fully developing and implementing the system. In terms of structured systems design, if applicable, has knowledge of all the tools of a structured design. Has applied structured design tools independently to the design of moderately complex systems.

• Applications Systems Architecture (Intermediate): Has detailed knowledge of the architecture of the systems which support more than one core business area. Demonstrates knowledge of how the core business areas' applications and support systems are structured, how various components and parts interact, as well as what protocols and interfaces are used for communications and cooperation between modules and components. Participates in the overall planning and design of the specific core business systems.

• Application Development (Advanced): Demonstrates expertise of application development tasks for complex applications. Has played a lead role in the conduct of all of the tasks and activities required to complete the application development phase and participated in the process of fully implementing the system. In terms of structured programming, has used structured code to produce modules of complex logic. Familiar with the basic principles of structured design as applied at the module level and has environmental knowledge of data structure. Is capable of educating others in the use of structured code and has been involved in directing the work of others.

• Applications Development Standards and Procedures (Advanced): Demonstrates the uppermost levels of expertise in applying applications development standards and procedures in challenging and complex situations. Helps set guidelines for critical areas such as security, encryption, data usages, etc. Often takes a role in establishing standards and procedures for the company. May participate in advanced technology or architecture areas which set standards for new products and processes as they are brought into the company.
