Amazon Reliability Engineer, Reliability and Automation Engineering Team (RAE) in Nashville, Tennessee

The Reliability, Maintenance, and Engineering (RME) team is looking for a Reliability Engineer to improve our fulfillment sites! Come join us as we work hard, have fun, and make history.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Primary responsibility for this position will be coordination of Failure Mode Effect and Analysis (FMEA) for critical material handling equipment.

• Lead efficiency improvement initiatives such as jam reductions, breakdown eliminations, and labor hour reductions associated with preventive maintenance activities. Initially, the Reliability Engineer will focus on Jam Reduction throughout the global network.

• Design, build, and improve order fulfillment infrastructure throughout the large-scale supply chain network.

• Provide technical leadership for large-scale industrial projects.

• Work with complex material handling systems, automation applications (auto bagging, cameras, printers and label applicators), and robotic palletizers and Universal Item Sorters (UIS)

• Introduce new equipment and technology into facilities within tight timelines with zero interruption to operations

• Lead Failure Mode Effect and Analysis (FMEAs) and coordinate design efforts between internal teams and outside vendors to develop optimal solutions for the network, including equipment specification, material flow, process design, and site layout.

• Monitor and enforce project schedules and quality with vendors or subcontractors.

• Inspect equipment in accordance with corporate standards and procedures relating to material handling, processing and storage.

• Provide leadership and coordination between internal departments and vendors for multiple sites.

• Coordinate with local site management to ensure proper RME training, procedural compliance, maintenance and safety practices are followed for new and existing equipment.

• Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and effectively influence, negotiate, and communicate with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors.

• Facilitate process improvement initiatives among site operations, engineering, and corporate systems groups.

• Develop maintenance standards, documentation, and practices

• Work across multiple business units to help identify root cause and actions for major equipment downtime events.

• Develop and mentor network SMEs to improve asset performance, reliability, and site technical expertise.

• Travel up to 50% (international and domestic)

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 4+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate level

  • Experience working with and managing third party vendors

  • Experience with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing
