Description

The WWDE Air team focuses engineering of material handling systems for Amazon's Air Cargo and Sort Center facilities. Our primary work is to oversee the design, development and delivery of innovative sorting solutions, that meet the needs of our global customers.

Key job responsibilities

As a Principal Technical Program Manager, you are accountable for the roadmaps for our innovative design solutions and driving teams inside and outside your organization to deliver results. Your role involves defining the program and setting its objectives, analyzing data, driving improvements that are quantified with metrics, and influencing resource allocation. You are responsible for ensuring that business and technical stakeholder needs are aligned, and you drive mindful discussions that lead to clear decisions.

You provide context for business/technology choices, partner with customers and engineering teams to determine project priorities, and use your technical judgment to question proposals and test assumptions.

You oversee the gap between teams, processes, and help to reduce exposure to classic failure modes. You solve ambiguous problems and proactively identify and mitigate risks, and you demonstrate good judgment in how and when to escalate. You are data-driven, regularly reviewing metrics and seeking new and improved data/mechanisms for visibility. You ensure your program stays aligned with organizational objectives.

As a principal technology program owner, you are an excellent communicator, able to write compelling narratives and present them effectively to Directors and VPs. You actively recruit and develop others by mentoring in your organization and providing constructive feedback for engineers, managers, and other peers.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 10+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 5+ years of software development experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

  • 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
