NWI Aerostructures Manufacturing Manager in Nashville, Tennessee

NWI Nashville LLC manufactures complex aerostructure components of commercial, business and military aircraft worldwide. We specialize in complex, structural and mechanical assemblies, machined components, and sheet metal fabrication. NWI is currently seeking an experienced Manufacturing Manager to provide leadership to the assembly and production operations to the Nashville facility. The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for overseeing the manufacture and delivery process of aircraft structural components. This role will also work with other groups to effectively implement and execute manufacturing deliverables by identifying continuous improvement activities, areas to streamline processes and cost reduction opportunities leading to an overall quality improvement and production efficiency. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the assigned Assembly and Fabrication Departments.
  • Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the companys policies and procedures including assigning and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Directly manages area supervisors.
  • Implements policies and procedures to meet production schedules and shipment goals.
  • Approves and directs improvements in production methods, quality, equipment, operating efficiency, and working conditions.
  • Assists with operating budgets for respective departments.
  • Prepare area assembly performance reports for senior management.
  • Ensures ongoing improvements are attained for product quality and overall business growth, and investigates and resolves causes of inefficiencies and manufacturing variances.
  • Ensures ongoing service support is maintained with customers
  • Meets established standards for productivity and quality. Confers with leadership when problems arise that impact expected level of performance.
  • Responsible for supporting and ensuring compliance to AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
  • Maintains a positive work environment through motivation and support of staff

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree with 10 years related experience. Masters level degree ideal.
  • Complex manufacturing/assembly process management experience required. Aerospace structural assembly manufacturing environment a preferred.
  • Proven ability to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost initiatives.
  • Demonstrated competency in utilizing support groups such as Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, Inventory Control, Human Resources, and Finance to meet objectives.
  • Thorough technical knowledge of manufacturing/assembly performance metrics and the ability to predict the impact of methods and process changes on these metrics.
  • Practical understanding of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma strategies required.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact with all levels within and outside the organization.
  • Union Shop experience preferred.
